Join us for the 39th Annual Du Bois Distinguished Lecture on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the University Center Ballroom.
This year's speaker is Dr. Toyin Falola, Professor of History, the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities and University Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. An internationally esteemed African activist scholar, Professor Falola has authored, co-authored and edited over 160 books and numerous articles and book chapters and also given several radio and television interviews on various aspects of African history and African Diaspora studies. He has served on the Library of Congress Scholars Council and as president of the African Studies Association, and the Nigerian Studies Association, Vice President of UNESCO’s International Scientific Committee on Slave Route Project, and series editor of several reputable academic/university publishing presses. He is the recipient of seven honorary doctoral degrees, several dozens of lifetime awards, and many book awards. Professor Falola will be speaking on "The Contemporary African Immigrant Communities in the United States."
