For nearly fifty years, the Department of Africana Studies has played a vital role on UMBC’s campus, developing community programs, student scholarships, and innovative courses that explore the contributions of African descended peoples to the interdependent global world.
Your contribution to Africana Studies will help sustain the Department’s mission by supporting student scholarship and research opportunities such as the Elechukwu Njaka Scholarship and Creative Research Award; and Model African Union; as well as programs like the annual W.E.B. Du Bois Lecture; and Taste of Africa celebration.
You can make a one-time or recurring gift by visiting the UMBC Giving site. Simply click on “Make a Gift” and write “Africana Studies Department” in the “Other Designations” field and indicate how you would like your donation to be used. You will receive an immediate e-mail confirmation of your gift, followed by a thank you and receipt from UMBC within a few weeks, which you may use for tax purposes. You can feel confident that 100% of your gift will support Africana Studies campus programming and student scholarships.
